Ok, I nearly was pushed away by the bad reviews on this appliance but decided to give it a try. I bought it about a month ago & I really like it.

I have to start by saying that I am religious about my coffee. I only drink it if it is good coffee & prepared well. I grind my beans & I only use fresh coffee. I am very picky about every aspect of coffee drinking, it isn't a habit for me but rather an experience.

With that said, I have 'tested' each of the problems mentioned in the reviews & here is what I found:

Leaking & overflowing - I have never had that problem after weeks of use, I am not sure why one of the posters had this problem, maybe they overfilled it.

Coffee grains in coffee - Nope, no problem here, the coffee is perfectly filtered with a paper filter. I haven't seen a grain of coffee yet!

Coffee not staying warm - I find that if I keep the lid shut that the coffee stays nice & warm for over 2 hours.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this coffee maker -- I'm buying a new one, November 14, 2008

Mr. Coffee ISTX95 programmable 10-cup coffee maker.

My husband and I have worn out one of these and we are now getting another. We've been using it at least daily for 4+ years. Our experience has been fine:
No leaking
No overflowing
No stray grounds in coffee
Simple to keep clean
Inexpensive water filter replacements at local "Big Box" store

Fairly early on we dropped the carafe onto a ceramic tile floor. We were sure the carafe was ruined but, other than a small ding in the pot, the coffee maker has continued to brew fresh, strong coffee every day and to pour without leaking.

The only time we've had any leakage from the reservoir was when I used the sink sprayer to fill it (sorry guys, I just don't agree with that bit of advice) and I didn't realize I was filling it too much. I find that filling the carafe with fresh, cold water from our water filter and then pouring it into the coffee maker works just fine. That way I... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite coffee maker I've had, August 14, 2008
cookiebaker (Springfield, IL USA) - See all my reviews
I have had this coffee pot for a couple of years now. As an avid coffee drinker I have gone thru plenty of coffee makers in my time. This is definitely my favorite of all. The caraffe keeps coffee hot for several hours. Mine has never leaked. You do have to pour water into the reservoir (it's not detatchable) but most are set up that way. Mine is close to the sink so I use the sprayer wand to fill it. It will overflow if you put more water in than its 10-cup capacity (duh). The opening is small but I use a bottle brush or dish brush to clean it and it is very stain-resistant. It has a setting for strong or regular coffee, delay timer (I can set it up night before and set time to brew in am and wake up to ready-to-go coffee!) There is a clean feature so it can run just hot water through very slowly to clean it out. You can set it to beep (or not)to signal brewing finished. Found out my brother has one of these as well and loves his too. I think it is very easy to use and... Read more
