Secura 4.6-Quart Electric Water Boiler and Warmer AirPot SWB-53 Reviews
5 of 5 people found the following review helpful An excellent appliance for any kitchen at any time (trust me), Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Secura 4.6-Quart Electric Water Boiler and Warmer AirPot SWB-53 I was looking for a affordable boiler for my kitchen counter. The Secura 4.6 quart seemed the best choice - balancing price and capacity. You can pay much more for similar products, but I really don't know why you would. This appliance had stood up very well through nearly 3 weeks of heavy (ab)use. Now, devices like this do a good job at having hot water available for tea, cocoa mix, instant coffee, ramen noodles, etc., but I was looking for an additional very different reason. I am in the middle of a most of the house remodel- chiefly the kitchen and bathroom. I have no hot water heater and am still debating a single whole house on demand unit vs 3 point of use on demand units. Meanwhile, heating 3 qt sauce pans of water on a hot plate is getting old - not to mention slow. That is the principle reason I purchased this appliance. I turn it on the first thing I get up each morning. In about 20 minutes I have hot water to wash my face and fill my French press pot to... So my parents decide to get me this, it was great to start with! It was no where as good as the one we have at home(water dispense rate, feel kinda cheap especially at the cover hinge, don't know how long that will last), but for school, why not? So I have been using it happily. After a few weeks, I notice that the water dispense at a much slower rate than before. It still give hot water, so okay, I lived with it. Then about a month after that, the electric water pump just died, no response at all. The light thing still work though. So anyway, I lived with it again and use the manual pump. Several days later, after I use up most of the water and refill it... returning from my cram study session and final exam, around 7 hours later... water still cold? So I reset it, let it "boil" for the night, and water still cold. Alright this thing is dead after... That said, for the unbeatable, reduced price, this thing works great. It's high capacity and boils water quickly and keeps it hot. It gives you hot water 24/7 if needed or wanted. What else can you ask for? I bought this for work and we serve hot water to an older crowd. Unfortunately the controls are going to be a pain in the butt. This thing "locks" automatically after 30 seconds or so and you have to press "unlock" to use it again. I wish there was a way to toggle this autolock on or off. Other than that, this is a cheap and nice alternative to those of us who don't want to pay $250 to boil water. |
